25 Days Uganda adventure Safari

Day 1, Arrival at Entebbe Airport
On arrival at the Airport, you will be welcomed by our company representative. Depending on the time of your arrival, Early arrivals will enable you visit some places in Entebbe like Botanical gardens, Snake Parks and the Entebbe Zoo. However with late and evening arrivals, your driver guide will transfer you to your Hotel in Kampala for dinner, refreshments and overnight stay at Serena Hotel or Sheraton Hotel (Luxury)/ Cassia Lodge (Midrange)/Excellent Hotel or Ministers Village Hotel or Hotel Sojovaro (Budget)

Day 2, Kampala City tour
This day you will be picked up from your Hotel in Kampala and then go for a city tour around Kampala. You will visit cultural sites like the King’s Palace, Kasubi tombs, religious sites like the Namugongo Martyrs’ shrine, Bahai Temple which is the only one of its kind in Africa and it’s used for meditation, Namugongo and Rubaga Cathedrals. Other places to visit include: Uganda Museum known to be the oldest in East Africa, the man made Kabaka’s lake and Makerere University which is the oldest institution in Africa. Dinner, refreshments and overnight stay at Serena Hotel or Sheraton Hotel (Luxury)/ Cassia Lodge (Midrange)/Excellent Hotel or Ministers Village Hotel or Hotel Sojovaro (Budget)

Day 3, Transfer to Kisoro/Mgahinga Gorilla Park
After breakfast, you will be picked up from your Hotel in Kampala and drive to the south western corner of Uganda in Kisoro town.  En route to the Park, you will stopover for souvenir shopping at the equator and you will get a chance of witnessing the water experiment at this very spot. After the water experiment, you will proceed to Mbarara town for Lunch. After lunch proceed to Kisoro and the journey will offer you with sights of the bamboo and Montane forest of the Echuya reserve with splendorous views of the north to the Virunga from the elevated Kanaba Gap. Reach Kisoro on time for dinner and overnight stay at Travelers’ Rest Hotel/Kisoro tourist Hotel/3 way Gorilla Resort

Day 4, Gorilla Trek in Mgahinga National Park
After a morning breakfast, you will report to the park headquarters where you will be briefed about the Gorilla tracking code of conduct. Thereafter you will be guided through the undergrowth thick forest in search for the Gorillas. The Nyakagezi gorilla group in this Park has 9 members of which 3 are adult females, 2 silver backs, 2 juveniles and 2 infants.  Upon encountering these Gorillas, listen to them while they grumble to each other in the dense rainforest. Return back to the Lodge or alternatively can go for the evening bird watching activity that is only of the Gorilla tracking activity ends before 3:00pm. If you go birding, expect to see birds like Ibis, Whydah, Speckled Mouse bird, and Fire Finch, Stonechat, Grey Capped Warbler and the Waxbills among others. Day 5, Golden monkey tracking
After breakfast, you will enter the park again in search for the rare primate species of Golden Monkeys. You will be guided through the bamboo zone for a wonderful encounter with the golden monkeys. This activity will expose you further to more wildlife within the park.  Return for dinner and overnight stay at Travelers’ Rest Hotel/Kisoro tourist Hotel/3 way Gorilla Resort

Day 6, Transfer to Mountain Rwenzori Park (Hike from Nyakalengija to Nyabitaba)
Early morning after breakfast, you will drive to Mountain Rwenzori National Park. Upon arrival, you will head to the Park headquarters at Nyakalengija for registration and to choose your porters and guides. After this, you will start your hike from Nyakalengija through the vegetation zones and ascent to Nyabitaba hut through canopies and slopes of Podocarpus forest and enjoy the walk with possible sighting of several wildlife creatures. Dinner and overnight at Nyabitaba hut.

Day 7, From Nyabitaba to John Matte Hut (River Mubuku)
After breakfast, you will commence on a morning hike from Nyabitaba hut to John Matte Hut. Slope down through a small trail to the forest for Kurt Shafer Bridge and cogitate at the luminous Mubuku River. Descend later through the open moss forest and open patches before you reach John matte hut for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 8, From John Matte to Bujuku hut
After breakfast, you will go through the magnificent view setting of mount Stanley, Baker and Speke, with a panoramic landscape of the gigantic Groundsel via River Bujuku to the home of the giant Lobelias in the Bigo Bog. Dinner and overnight at Bujuku hut.

Day 9, Bujuku to Scott Elliott Pass to Elena Hut
After breakfast, you will ascend the main trail to Scott-Elliot Pass which is 4372m through the paranormal Groundsel Gully from Bujuku hut down to Kitandara lakes. After the Gully, head over a steep rocky trail to Elena hut which a base camp for climbing Margherita peak for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 10, Margherita Peak to Kitandara Hut
For those aiming at reaching Margherita peak (5109m), continue to the base of the Stanley Glacier. To reach the summit of Margherita, the climb takes about 5-7 hours depending on the weather conditions and the pace of climbing this mountain. This tough walk takes you over three glaciers, slippery rock, ice and very exposed areas which are open on many sides. Note that this climb is for only physically fit and technical climbers. Climbing on to the glaciers, cross the Stanley Plateau and proceed with the ascent. Acclimatized to fog, altitude sickness and coolly weather, scramble up to the summit of Margherita the highest peak of the Rwenzoris. Given the high altitude and the tough conditions even if you do not reach the peak, don’t get disappointed. Prepare for you return through the Scott-Elliot pass, where there are spectacular views back to Bujuku Lake and Mount Speke, up to Mount Stanley and down to the Kitandara Lakes. After the trail that passes you through an alpine zone of sparse vegetation and rough boulders, descend past the Kitandara Lakes for dinner and overnight at the Kitandara Hut.

Day 11, Kitandara Hut to Guy Yeoman Hut (3260m)
From Kitandara, take on the trail that ascends steeply up the headwall, spreading out from the base of Mount Baker and continuing along the south side of the mountain to Fresh field Pass. At this point you can view into the Congo to the west and Mount Stanley to the north. From the pass, take on the long trail passing the rock shelter at Bujongolo, the base camp for the historic expedition by the Duke of Abruzzi in 1906.Dinner and Overnight at Guy Yeoman Hut.

Day 12, Guy Yeoman Hut to Nyabitaba (2650m)
Take on the path down to Nyabitaba hut. The path can be slippery and muddy and there fore requires careful balancing over the vertical mud or steep rock. Remember this is part of the adventure with in this mountain. Dinner and Overnight at Nyabitaba Hut

Day 13, Nyabitaba to Nyakalengija and to Kasese
Descend gently down the muddy paths to the trailhead, finally arriving in Nyakalengija where your guide will be waiting for you to transfer you to the Hotel in Kasese town for refreshments, relaxation, dinner and overnight stay at Hotel Margherita

Day 14, Transfer to Semliki Valley
After breakfast, you will drive to the most spectacular section of the Albertine rift in the Semliki Valley. you will leave for a guided nature walk in the vast extension of the Ituri forest where you will be rewarded with sights of early risers like primates, birds, and different animal species from the far. You will trail through the two main springs set in a lush swampy clearing close to the south eastern corner of the forest. Expect to spot different bird species like the yellow throated tinker bird, horn-bills, red-rumped and Frasier’s ant-thrush, blue-breasted King fisher and honey guide greenbul. Also look out for different primate species in the forest like the red-tailed monkey, grey checked Mangabey and Black and white colobus monkeys.  Have a picnic lunch in the Park and later visit the Mungilo water fall which may reward you with excellent views of the hornbill species. Also visit the Eastern boundary of the Semliki River which may also expose you to a variety of water birds, monkey’s hippos and crocodiles. Dinner and overnight stay at Semliki Safari Lodge (Luxury)/Hotel Vanilla (mid range)/UWA campsite (Budget)

Day 15, Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park
After a morning breakfast, you will drive to Fort portal for lunch. You will also be rewarded with the spectacular view of the magnificent scenery of the Rwenzori Mountains and the local home stead as you proceed to Kibale Forest National Park. Upon arrival at the Park you will take a guided nature walk to explore around the Bunyaruguru crater region. Dinner overnight at Primates lodge (Luxury)/ Chimp’s nest (Midrange)/Chimpanzee Guest house (Budget).

Day 16, Chimp Tracking and Bigodi Swamp walk
Upon having breakfast in the morning at your lodge, you will go for the life time Chimpanzee tracking experience in their natural environment and habitat. You will first report to the Park Headquarters at Kanyachu for a briefing about the chimp trackers code of conduct by a UWA official and then later go for the morning chimpanzee tracking experience. You will penetrate into the forest under the guidance of an armed ranger for the tracking.  Besides the chimps, you may spot other primates and these include: Varvet Monkey, L’hoest, Blue Monkey, Red-Tailed Monkey, Grey Cheeked Mangabey, Black And White Colobus Monkey and many more. Return back to the lodge for Lunch and later go for the afternoon Bigodi swamp walk to search for different bird species. Dinner and overnight at Primates lodge (Luxury)/ Chimp’s nest (Midrange)/Chimpanzee Guest house (Budget).

Day 17, Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
After breakfast, you will leave Kibale Forest National Park and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park which is the most popular protected area with a stunning location on the rift valley floor between Lakes Edward and George. En route to the Park you will enjoy a game drive that will expose you to different wildlife species such as Elephants, Buffalos, Uganda Kob and if you are lucky, you may also spot the Hyena, Lions, Leopard and perhaps the Giant Forest Hog. Dinner and overnight stay at Mweya safari lodge or Jacana Safari Lodge (Luxury)/Hippo Hills camp or Queen Elizabeth Bush Lodge (mid range)/ Simba safari lodge (Budget)

Day 18, Game drive and afternoon Launch cruise
After your breakfast, you will go for the morning game drive in Kasenyi area to search for different wildlife animals missed out in the previous game drive. Later visit the Katwe explosion craters. Here you will spot Kitagata Lake and the enormous Kamengo Crater and this will give you clear view of different wildlife around the Park. In the afternoon, go for the launch cruise along the Kazinga Channel where you will be rewarded with wildlife sights of species like the Hippopotamuses, Waterbucks, Crocodiles and a variety of Water Birds like the black bee- eater, several species of falcons and the raptors. Dinner and overnight stay at Mweya safari lodge or Jacana Safari Lodge (Luxury)/Hippo Hills camp or Queen Elizabeth Bush Lodge (mid range)/ Simba safari lodge (Budget)

Day 19, Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
After breakfast, you will transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park via the Ishasha sector commonly known for the rare tree climbing lions. These are basically found in the tall fig trees and acacia trees. Have lunch at Ishasha as you spot the hippos in the Ishasha River. You may also spot buffaloes, leopards, Kob and topis on the plains of the area. Proceed to Bwindi for refreshments, dinner and overnight stay at Gorilla Resort or Mahogany Springs or Gorilla Forest Camp (Luxury)/Lake Kitandara or Buhoma Lodge (Midrange)/Buhoma Community Bandas or wagtail eco safari camp (Budget)

Day 20, Gorilla tracking
After breakfast, you will report to the park headquarters where you will be briefed about the mountain gorilla trackers code of conduct. Later you will penetrate through the impenetrable forest for a more adventurous and exciting lifetime experience of Mountain Gorilla tracking.  You are all reminded to go with your packed lunch and bottled water since the tracking duration depends on the ease to see the gorilla that day and where they slept the previous night. Besides the Gorillas, you will also spot other forest wildlife like the Black and White Colobus Monkeys, Red Tailed Colobus, Blue Monkey, L’hoests and baboons and many more. Retire for dinner and overnight stay at Gorilla Resort or Mahogany Springs or Gorilla Forest Camp (Luxury)/Lake Kitandara or Buhoma Lodge (Midrange)/Buhoma Community Bandas or wagtail eco safari camp (Budget)

Day 21, Transfer to Lake Mburo
You will leave Bwindi after breakfast and transfer to Lake Mburo National Park with lunch en route in Mbarara town. Upon reaching lake Mburo, you will go for the afternoon boat trip along Lake Mburo that will expose you to the park’s wildlife such as the hippos and a variety of water birds that may include the African Fin foot, Pelicans, Black crake, Heron, cormorant, fish eagle if lucky you will spot the rare shoebill stork . Dinner and overnight at Mihingo Lodge or Mantana Luxury Tented Camp (Luxury)/ Rwonyo Camp (Budget)/ Arcadia cottages (Mid range)

Day 22, Game drive and transfer to Kampala
After breakfast, you will go for the morning game drive to search for the early risers. Drive through the humid acacia forest and expect to see animals like the Giant eland, Impala and Burchell’s zebra, Buffalo, Oribis, Waterbucks, Reedbuck and the Rare Sitatunga. Thereafter depart for Kampala with an en route lunch stopover at the Equator. Proceed to Kampala for dinner, refreshments and overnight stay at Serena Hotel or Sheraton Hotel (Luxury)/ Cassia Lodge (Midrange)/Excellent Hotel or Ministers Village Hotel or Hotel Sojovaro (Budget)

Day 23, Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park
After breakfast, you will be picked up from your Hotel in Kampala by our guide and be transferred to Murchison falls National Park. En route, visit the Ziwa Rhino sanctuary for Rhino tracking. Proceed with your journey to Masindi town for Lunch at Masindi Hotel. Later proceed to the park entering through the Kichumbanyobo gate. Upon arrival, you will visit the top of the falls where you will be rewarded with sights and sound on the Albert Nile crashing through the chasm. The water forces it’s self in a narrow gap in a rock only 7 meters wide pouring into a gorge 43 meters down thus making a thunderous roaring sound. After this, transfer to your assigned lodge for dinner and overnight stay at Paraa Safari Lodge  or Chose Safari Lodge or Nile Safari camp for Luxury/ Sambiya River Lodge for Mid range/Red chill campsite for Budget

Day 24, Game drive and launch cruise along the Albert Nile
After breakfast, you will set out for game drive on the northern sector of the Park. Here you will search for the early risers where you will be able to spot animals like Lions, Elephants, Buffaloes, Warthogs, baboons, Giraffes, Water bucks, bush bucks and so on. If you are a lucky visitor, you can also spot the Leopard. The game drive can take like 4-5 hours and this is the longest game drive in all Uganda’s game parks. Return to your lodge for lunch and in the afternoon, you will set out for the launch cruise along the Albert Nile where you will enjoy the cruise and can be able to spot animals like hippos, crocodiles, Oribis, buffalos and the wonderful bottom of the falls. Return back to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay at Paraa Safari Lodge  or Chose Safari Lodge or Nile Safari camp for Luxury/ Sambiya River Lodge for Mid range/Red chill campsite for Budget

Day 25, Chimpanzee tracking and transfer back to Kampala
After breakfast, you will go for chimpanzee tracking in Kaniyo Pabidi area within Budongo Forest. There are a number of chimpanzees as well as other primates. Have lunch at Kaniyo Pabidi and in the afternoon, transfer back to Kampala reaching in the evening. Depending on your departure flight time, you will be transferred to Entebbe International Airport to catch your flight back home.
