22 Days Granda Uganda Wildlife Safari

Day 1, Arrival at Entebbe Airport
On arrival at the Airport, you will be welcomed by our company representative. Depending on the time of your arrival, Early arrivals will enable you visit some places in Entebbe like Botanical gardens, Snake Parks and the Entebbe Zoo. However with late and evening arrivals, your driver guide will transfer you to your Hotel in Kampala for dinner, refreshments and overnight stay at Serena Hotel or Sheraton Hotel (Luxury)/ Cassia Lodge (Midrange)/Excellent Hotel or Ministers Village Hotel or Hotel Sojovaro (Budget)

Day 2, Kampala City tour
This day you will be picked up from your Hotel in Kampala and then go for a city tour around Kampala. You will visit cultural sites like the King’s Palace, Kasubi tombs, religious sites like the Namugongo Martyrs’ shrine, Bahai Temple which is the only one of its kind in Africa and it’s used for meditation, Namugongo and Rubaga Cathedrals. Other places to visit include: Uganda Museum known to be the oldest in East Africa, the man made Kabaka’s lake and Makerere University which is the oldest institution in Africa. Dinner, refreshments and overnight stay at Serena Hotel or Sheraton Hotel (Luxury)/ Cassia Lodge (Midrange)/Excellent Hotel or Ministers Village Hotel or Hotel Sojovaro (Budget)

Day 3, Transfer to Jinja
After your breakfast at the Hotel, you will transfer to Jinja and the journey will offer you with sights of the en route flora and Fauna in Mabira forest and also a stopover at Sezibwa falls. The falls are on Sezibwa River which is the only river believed to be born by a human being. Detour the Mabira forest where you will enjoy spontaneous views of the bird life and monkeys at this spot. Proceed to Jinja where you will visit the mighty Source of River Nile. Dinner and overnight stay at Jinja Nile Resort for Luxury/ Nile Anchors Palace or Sun Set Hotel for mid range/ Cool Breeze Hotel for Budget

Day 4, Whitewater rafting
After your breakfast, you will set off for the most exciting adventure in Jinja on the Nile River.  The starting point is at Bujjagali and here you will first see where all grade rafters begin and end their rafting adventure. This will take you through the magnificent grade 8 rapids on the Nile and also reward you with spectacular views of the bird haven on the mighty Nile River. After the raft, you will transfer back to your lodge for dinner and overnight at Jinja Nile Resort for Luxury/ Nile Anchors Palace or Sun Set Hotel for mid range/ Cool Breeze Hotel for Budget

Day 5, Transfer to Mt. Elgon
After your breakfast in Jinja, you will drive to Mbale for the great Elgon tour. Have lunch in Mbale town and in the afternoon participate in the forest walk with in the Park. Dinner and overnight stay at Sipi Falls Resort, Lacam Lodge or Sipi River camp

Day 6, Sipi Falls Tour
After breakfast, you will visit the Romantic Sipi Falls. The nature walk to the falls will reward you with sights of different floral species including Elgonensis lobelia and dotted clusters of peculiar groundsels. Return back to your lodge for lunch and in the afternoon go for cave exploration and also visit the plantations of coffee, sugar cane and bananas. Dinner and overnight stay at Sipi Falls Resort, Lacam Lodge or Sipi River camp

Day 7, Transfer to Murchison falls National Park
After an early morning breakfast, you will transfer to Murchison falls National Park via Kampala for lunch. En route to the Park you will stopover in Masindi town for refreshments and later proceed to the park entering through the Kichumbanyobo gate. Upon arrival, you will transfer to your assigned lodge for dinner and overnight stay at Paraa Safari Lodge  or Chose Safari Lodge or Nile Safari camp for Luxury/ Sambiya River Lodge for Mid range/Red chill campsite for Budget

Day 8, Game drive and launch cruise along the Albert Nile
After breakfast, you will set out for game drive on the northern sector of the Park. Here you will search for the early risers where you will be able to spot animals like Lions, Elephants, Buffaloes, Warthogs, baboons, Giraffes, Water bucks, bush bucks and so on. If you are a lucky visitor, you can also spot the Leopard. The game drive can take like 4-5 hours and this is the longest game drive in all Uganda’s game parks. Return to your lodge for lunch and in the afternoon, you will set out for the launch cruise along the Albert Nile where you will enjoy the cruise and can be able to spot animals like hippos, crocodiles, Oribis, buffalos and the wonderful bottom of the falls. Return back to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay at Paraa Safari Lodge  or Chose Safari Lodge or Nile Safari camp for Luxury/ Sambiya River Lodge for Mid range/Red chill campsite for Budget

Day 9, Chimpanzee tracking and top of the falls
After breakfast, you will go for chimpanzee tracking in Kaniyo Pabidi area within Budongo Forest. There are a number of chimpanzees as well as other primates. Have lunch at Kaniyo Pabidi and in the afternoon, visit the top of the falls where you will be rewarded with sights and sound on the Albert Nile crashing through the chasm. The water forces its self in a narrow gap in a rock only 7 meters wide pouring into a gorge 43 meters down thus making a thunderous roaring sound. Return back to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay at Paraa Safari Lodge  or Chose Safari Lodge or Nile Safari camp for Luxury/ Sambiya River Lodge for Mid range/Red chill campsite for Budget

Day 10, Transfer to Kibale National Park
After a morning breakfast, you will drive to Fort portal town with lunch en route in Hoima. The journey will reward you with spectacular views of the magnificent scenery as you drive through the traditional homesteads and farms on your way to Kibale. Reach Fort Portal in the evening and then proceed to Kibale Forest National Park. Dinner overnight at Primates lodge (Luxury)/ Chimp’s nest (Midrange)/Chimpanzee Guest house (Budget).

Day 11, Chimp tracking and Bigodi Swamp walk
Upon having breakfast in the morning at your lodge, you will go for the life time Chimpanzee tracking experience in their natural environment and habitat. You will first report to the Park Headquarters at Kanyachu for a briefing about the chimp trackers code of conduct by a UWA official and then later go for the morning chimpanzee tracking experience. You will penetrate into the forest under the guidance of an armed ranger for the tracking.  Besides the chimps, you may spot other primates and these include: Varvet Monkey, L’hoest, Blue Monkey, Red-Tailed Monkey, Grey Cheeked Mangabey, Black And White Colobus Monkey and many more. Return back to the lodge for Lunch and later go for the afternoon Bigodi swamp walk to search for different bird species. Dinner and overnight at Primates lodge (Luxury)/ Chimp’s nest (Midrange)/Chimpanzee Guest house (Budget).

Day 12, Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
After breakfast, you will leave Kibale Forest National Park and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park which is the most popular protected area with a stunning location on the rift valley floor between Lakes Edward and George. En route to the Park you will enjoy a game drive that will expose you to different wildlife species such as Elephants, Buffalos, Uganda Kob and if you are lucky, you may also spot the Hyena, Lions, Leopard and perhaps the Giant Forest Hog. Dinner and overnight stay at Mweya safari lodge or Jacana Safari Lodge (Luxury)/Hippo Hills camp or Queen Elizabeth Bush Lodge (mid range)/ Simba safari lodge (Budget)

Day 13, Game drive and afternoon Launch cruise
After your breakfast, you will go for the morning game drive in Kasenyi area to search for different wildlife animals missed out in the previous game drive. Later visit the Katwe explosion craters. Here you will spot Kitagata Lake and the enormous Kamengo Crater and this will give you clear view of different wildlife around the Park. In the afternoon, go for the launch cruise along the Kazinga Channel where you will be rewarded with wildlife sights of species like the Hippopotamuses, Waterbucks, Crocodiles and a variety of Water Birds like the black bee- eater, several species of falcons and the raptors. Dinner and overnight stay at Mweya safari lodge or Jacana Safari Lodge (Luxury)/Hippo Hills camp or Queen Elizabeth Bush Lodge (mid range)/ Simba safari lodge (Budget)

Day 14, Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
After breakfast, you will transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park via the Ishasha sector commonly known for the rare tree climbing lions. These are basically found in the tall fig trees and acacia trees. Have lunch at Ishasha as you spot the hippos in the Ishasha River. You may also spot buffaloes, leopards, Kob and topis on the plains of the area. Proceed to Bwindi for refreshments, dinner and overnight stay at Gorilla Resort or Mahogany Springs or Gorilla Forest Camp (Luxury)/Lake Kitandara or Buhoma Lodge (Midrange)/Buhoma Community Bandas or wagtail eco safari camp (Budget)

Day 15, Gorilla tracking
After breakfast, you will report to the park headquarters where you will be briefed about the mountain gorilla trackers code of conduct. Later you will penetrate through the impenetrable forest for a more adventurous and exciting lifetime experience of Mountain Gorilla tracking.  You are all reminded to go with your packed lunch and bottled water since the tracking duration depends on the ease to see the gorilla that day and where they slept the previous night. Besides the Gorillas, you will also spot other forest wildlife like the Black and White Colobus Monkeys, Red Tailed Colobus, Blue Monkey, L’hoests and baboons and many more. Retire for dinner and overnight stay at Gorilla Resort or Mahogany Springs or Gorilla Forest Camp (Luxury)/Lake Kitandara or Buhoma Lodge (Midrange)/Buhoma Community Bandas or wagtail eco safari camp (Budget)

Day 16, Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi
After your breakfast, you will transfer to Lake Bunyonyi via the commonly known area as the Switzerland of Africa Kabale. The journey will offer you with sights of the beautiful terrain of the rolling hills with terraced landscape. Upon arrival at Bunyonyi, have lunch and later carry out an afternoon boat ride on the lake which will reward you with sights of different birds on the many small islands on the lake.  Dinner and overnight in Arcadia Cottages for Luxury or Bunyonyi Overland Resort for mid range or Bunyonyi overland Camp for budget

Day 17, Transfer to Lake Mburo
You will leave Bunyonyi after breakfast and transfer to Lake Mburo National Park with lunch en route in Mbarara town. Upon reaching lake Mburo, you will go for the afternoon boat trip along Lake Mburo that will expose you to the park’s wildlife such as the hippos and a variety of water birds that may include the African Fin foot, Pelicans, Black crake, Heron, cormorant, fish eagle if lucky you will spot the rare shoebill stork . Dinner and overnight at Mihingo Lodge or Mantana Luxury Tented Camp (Luxury)/ Rwonyo Camp (Budget)/ Arcadia cottages (Mid range)

Day 18, Game drive and transfer to Kampala
After breakfast, you will go for the morning game drive to search for the early risers. Drive through the humid acacia forest and expect to see animals like the Giant eland, Impala and Burchell’s zebra, Buffalo, Oribis, Waterbucks, Reedbuck and the Rare Sitatunga. Thereafter depart for Kampala with an en route lunch stopover at the Equator. Proceed to Kampala for dinner, refreshments and overnight stay at Serena Hotel or Sheraton Hotel (Luxury)/ Cassia Lodge (Midrange)/Excellent Hotel or Ministers Village Hotel or Hotel Sojovaro (Budget)

Day 19, UWEC and Ssese Islands
After breakfast, you will be transferred to Uganda Wildlife Education centre in Entebbe for another wildlife viewing while in their cages. The tour guide will take you through different exhibits and adequate you with more information concerning Uganda’s mammals, reptiles and birds found in this area and where each can be found in their natural habitat. After this, you will board the ferry boat which will take you to Ssese Islands which is an archipelago of 84 islands on Lake Victoria. The journey will take you to the beautiful bay of Lutoboka, in Bugala Island, for dinner and overnight at Mirembe Resort Beach/ Pearl Gardens Hotel

Day 20, Bukasa Island
After breakfast, you will take an excursion to Bukasa Island which is the second largest island on the Ssese island archipelago. The exploration of Bukasa Islands characterized by beautiful lake shores and forested lands give an unforgettable experience. Have lunch and continue with your expedition in the Islands. Return to Bugala islands by evening for dinner overnight at Mirembe Resort Beach/Pearl Gardens Hotel

Day 21, Full day relaxation on Bugala Island Beach
Spend this day relaxing at the white serene sandy beaches on the Island. Alternatively, you can participate in activities like swimming, fishing in the waters of Lake Victoria and so on. Dinner overnight at Mirembe Resort Beach/Pearl Gardens Hotel

Day 22, Return to Entebbe
After breakfast return to Entebbe. Drop off will be at the Airport for your outbound flight back home.
