20 Days Granda Uganda Briding Experience

Day 1, Arrival at Entebbe Airport
On arrival at the Airport, you will be welcomed by our company representative. Depending on the time of your arrival, Early arrivals will enable you visit some places in Entebbe like Botanical gardens, Snake Parks and the Entebbe Zoo. However with late and evening arrivals, your driver guide will transfer you to your Hotel in Kampala for dinner, refreshments and overnight stay at Serena Hotel or Sheraton Hotel (Luxury)/ Cassia Lodge (Midrange)/Excellent Hotel or Ministers Village Hotel or Hotel Sojovaro (Budget)

Day 2, Kampala City tour and Jinja tour
This day you will be picked up from your Hotel in Kampala and then go for a city tour around Kampala. You will visit cultural sites like the King’s Palace, Kasubi tombs, religious sites like the Namugongo Martyrs’ shrine, Bahai Temple which is the only one of its kind in Africa and it’s used for meditation, Namugongo and Rubaga Cathedrals. Other places to visit include: Uganda Museum known to be the oldest in East Africa, the man made Kabaka’s lake and Makerere University which is the oldest institution in Africa. Day 3, drive to Masindi
After a morning breakfast, you will transfer to Budongo Forest in Masindi. Upon reaching Masindi Town, you will have Lunch at the Hotel. After Lunch, you will take a guided nature walk in the Nyabyeya region and it’s the best place to do a guided bird walk along the Royal mile which runs between Nyabyeya Forestry College and the research station. Dinner and overnight at Masindi Hotel / Nyabyeya Forestry College Guest House

 Day 4, full day birding in Budongo
After your breakfast you will set off for a whole day birding experience in Budongo Forest within the Royal mile area. Do not forget to take with you your packed lunch and mineral water. The forest has a lot of bird species which can only be found here and nowhere else in East Africa. Look out for birds like the Guinea-Congo forest Biome and Yellow-footed Flycatcher, Ceratogymna fistulator, Smithornis rufolateralis, Ixonotus guttatus, Neafrapus cassini, Sylvietta denti, Batis ituriensis and Zoothers camaronensis, Pitta reichenowi and Parmoptila woodhousei, the Blue-breasted, sunbirds and so many others. Day 5, Transfer to Kibale National Park
After a morning breakfast, you will drive to Fort portal town with lunch en route in Hoima. The journey will reward you with spectacular views of the magnificent scenery as you drive through the traditional homesteads and farms on your way to Kibale. Reach Fort Portal in the evening and then proceed to Kibale Forest National Park. Dinner overnight at Primates lodge (Luxury)/ Chimp’s nest (Midrange)/Chimpanzee Guest house (Budget).

Day 6, Chimp tracking and Bigodi Swamp walk for birding
Upon having breakfast in the morning at your lodge, you will go for the life time Chimpanzee tracking experience in their natural environment and habitat. You will first report to the Park Headquarters at Kanyachu for a briefing about the chimp trackers code of conduct by a UWA official and then later go for the morning chimpanzee tracking experience. You will penetrate into the forest under the guidance of an armed ranger for the tracking.  Besides the chimps, you may spot other primates and these include: Varvet Monkey, L’hoest, Blue Monkey, Red-Tailed Monkey, Grey Cheeked Mangabey, Black And White Colobus Monkey and many more. Return back to the lodge for Lunch and later go for the afternoon Bigodi swamp walk to search for different bird species like the Masked Apalis, white headed wood hoopoe and many more. Day 7, Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
After breakfast, you will leave Kibale Forest National Park and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park which is the most popular protected area with a stunning location on the rift valley floor between Lakes Edward and George. En route to the Park you will enjoy a game drive that will expose you to different wildlife species such as Elephants, Buffalos, Uganda Kob and if you are lucky, you may also spot the Hyena, Lions, Leopard and perhaps the Giant Forest Hog. Dinner and overnight stay at Mweya safari lodge or Jacana Safari Lodge (Luxury)/Hippo Hills camp or Queen Elizabeth Bush Lodge (mid range)/ Simba safari lodge (Budget)

Day 8, Game drive and afternoon Launch cruise
After your breakfast, you will go for the morning game drive in Kasenyi area to search for different wildlife animals missed out in the previous game drive. Later visit the Katwe explosion craters. Here you will spot Kitagata Lake and the enormous Kamengo Crater and this will give you clear view of different wildlife around the Park and a lot of bird species like the African Skimmer, Striated Heron, African Spoonbill, Water Thick-knee, Three-banded Plover, Marsh, Green, Wood and Common Sandpiper, Gray-headed Gull, Plain Martin, Lesser Swamp-Warbler and Yellow-billed Oxpecker and many others. In the afternoon, go for the launch cruise along the Kazinga Channel where you will be rewarded with wildlife sights of species like the Hippopotamuses, Waterbucks, Crocodiles and a variety of Water Birds like the black bee- eater, Pink Pelican, King fisher and several species of falcons and the raptors. Day 9, Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
After breakfast, you will transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park via the Ishasha sector commonly known for the rare tree climbing lions. These are basically found in the tall fig trees and acacia trees. Have lunch at Ishasha as you spot the hippos in the Ishasha River. You may also spot buffaloes, leopards, Kob and topis on the plains of the area. Proceed to Bwindi for refreshments, dinner and overnight stay at Gorilla Resort or Mahogany Springs or Gorilla Forest Camp (Luxury)/Lake Kitandara or Buhoma Lodge (Midrange)/Buhoma Community Bandas or wagtail eco safari camp (Budget)

Day 10, Full day birding in Bwindi
After breakfast, you will set out for a full day birding in Mubwindi section. You are reminded to carry with you your packed lunch which will be enjoyed while in search for the different bird species in the Forest such as Crimsonwings, sunbirds, starlings, Illadopses warblers Yellow-eyed Black Flycatcher, Mountain Greenbul, Grey Cuckoo Shrike, Red-faced Woodland and Mountain Yellow Warbler, Chestnut-throated Collard and Black Throated Apalis, Stripe-breasted Tit, African Green Broadbill, Mountain, Shelley’s and Yellow-streaked Greenbul, Rwenzori Batis, Regal among others.  Dinner and overnight stay at Gorilla Resort or Mahogany Springs or Gorilla Forest Camp (Luxury)/Lake Kitandara or Buhoma Lodge (Midrange)/Buhoma Community Bandas or wagtail eco safari camp (Budget)

Days 11 and 12, Birding in Ruhija Section
Spend the whole 2 days birding in Ruhija Section. Day 13, Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi
After your breakfast, you will transfer to Lake Bunyonyi via the commonly known area as the Switzerland of Africa Kabale. The journey will offer you with sights of the beautiful terrain of the rolling hills with terraced landscape. Upon arrival at Bunyonyi, have lunch and later carry out an afternoon walk alongside the nearby forests lake which will reward you with sights of different birds such as the herons, egrets, cranes and many more.  Dinner and overnight in Arcadia Cottages for Luxury or Bunyonyi Overland Resort for mid range or Bunyonyi overland Camp for budget

Day 14, full day on Lake Bunyonyi
After breakfast, you will go for a full day boat ride on Lake Bunyonyi to different small Islands in search for bird species like the King fisher, starlings, Illadopses warblers Yellow-eyed Black Flycatcher, Mountain Greenbul, Grey Cuckoo Shrike and so on. Day15, Transfer to Lake Mburo
You will leave Lake Bunyonyi after breakfast and transfer to Lake Mburo National Park with lunch en route in Mbarara town. Upon reaching lake Mburo, you will go for the afternoon boat trip along Lake Mburo that will expose you to the park’s wildlife such as the hippos and a variety of water birds that may include the African Fin foot, Pelicans, Black crake, Heron, cormorant, fish eagle if lucky you will spot the rare shoebill stork . Day 16 and 17, Birding in Lake Mburo
Spend the whole 2 days in Lake Mburo searching for different bird species while participating in Nature walks and boat rides on Lake Mburo. Look out for bird species like Papyrus Gonolek, Malachite Kingfishers, Shikra Goshawks, African fish eagle, African Marsh Harriers and many more. Day 18, Game drive and transfer to Kampala
After breakfast, you will go for the morning game drive to search for the early risers. Drive through the humid acacia forest and expect to see animals like the Giant eland, Impala and Burchell’s zebra, Buffalo, Oribis, Waterbucks, Reedbuck and the Rare Sitatunga. Thereafter depart for Kampala with an en route lunch stopover at the Equator.
