19 Days Uganda Wildlife and Primates Tour

Day 1, Arrival at Entebbe Airport
On arrival at the Airport, you will be welcomed by our company representative. Depending on the time of your arrival, Early arrivals will enable you visit some places in Entebbe like Botanical gardens, Snake Parks and the Entebbe Zoo. However with late and evening arrivals, your driver guide will transfer you to your Hotel in Kampala for dinner, refreshments and overnight stay at Serena Hotel or Sheraton Hotel (Luxury)/ Cassia Lodge (Midrange)/Excellent Hotel or Ministers Village Hotel or Hotel Sojovaro (Budget)

Day 2, Transfer to Ngamba Island
You will be picked form your hotel after your breakfast and transfer to Entebbe pier for the transfer to Ngamba Islands Chimpanzee sanctuary either by Speed boat which takes 45 minutes or by traditional boat which takes 90 minutes. The Sanctuary is a home to over 40 orphaned Chimpanzees. En route to the sanctuary, you will cross the equator and upon arrival, you will visit the Chimpanzees from the Visitors viewing platform as they feed while in their natural environment. After the interaction, you will return back to the shores to get your boat back to Entebbe pier. You may visit the Uganda wildlife Authority for viewing animals in their cages. Later transfer back to your Hotel in Kampala for dinner, refreshments and overnight stay at Serena Hotel or Sheraton Hotel (Luxury)/ Cassia Lodge (Midrange)/Excellent Hotel or Ministers Village Hotel or Hotel Sojovaro (Budget)

Day 3, Transfer to Jinja
After your breakfast at the Hotel, you will transfer to Jinja and the journey will offer you with sights of the en route flora and Fauna in Mabira forest and also a stopover at Sezibwa falls. The falls are on Sezibwa River which is the only river believed to be born by a human being. Detour the Mabira forest where you will enjoy spontaneous views of the bird life and monkeys at this spot. Proceed to Jinja where you will visit the mighty Source of River Nile. Dinner and overnight stay at Jinja Nile Resort for Luxury/ Nile Anchors Palace or Sun Set Hotel for mid range/ Cool Breeze Hotel for Budget

Day 4, Whitewater rafting
After your breakfast, you will set off for the most exciting adventure in Jinja on the Nile River.  The starting point is at Bujjagali and here you will first see where all grade rafters begin and end their rafting adventure. This will take you through the magnificent grade 8 rapids on the Nile and also reward you with spectacular views of the bird haven on the mighty Nile River. After the raft, you will transfer back to your lodge for dinner and overnight at Jinja Nile Resort for Luxury/ Nile Anchors Palace or Sun Set Hotel for mid range/ Cool Breeze Hotel for Budget

Day 5, Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park
After an early morning breakfast, you will transfer to Murchison falls National Park via Kampala. En route to the Park you will stopover in Masindi town for Lunch and later proceed to the park entering through the Kichumbanyobo gate. Upon arrival, you will visit the top of the falls where you will be rewarded with sights and sound on the Albert Nile crashing through the chasm. The water forces its self in a narrow gap in a rock only 7 meters wide pouring into a gorge 43 meters down thus making a thunderous roaring sound. After this, transfer to your assigned lodge for dinner and overnight stay at Paraa Safari Lodge  or Chose Safari Lodge or Nile Safari camp for Luxury/ Sambiya River Lodge for Mid range/Red chill campsite for Budget

Day 6, Game drive and launch cruise along the Albert Nile
After breakfast, you will set out for game drive on the northern sector of the Park. Here you will search for the early risers where you will be able to spot animals like Lions, Elephants, Buffaloes, Warthogs, baboons, Giraffes, Water bucks, bush bucks and so on. If you are a lucky visitor, you can also spot the Leopard. The game drive can take like 4-5 hours and this is the longest game drive in all Uganda’s game parks. Return to your lodge for lunch and in the afternoon, you will set out for the launch cruise along the Albert Nile where you will enjoy the cruise and can be able to spot animals like hippos, crocodiles, Oribis, buffalos and the wonderful bottom of the falls. Return back to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay at Paraa Safari Lodge  or Chose Safari Lodge or Nile Safari camp for Luxury/ Sambiya River Lodge for Mid range/Red chill campsite for Budget

Day 7, Transfer to Semliki National Park
After an early morning breakfast, you will depart for Semliki National Game Park. The Park is made up of diverse habitats that explain the diversity of different tree, animal, primate and bird species. En route to the park, you will be able to have sights of the beautiful lush green environment and roadside cliffs. Dinner and overnight stay at Semliki Safari Lodge (Luxury)/Hotel Vanilla (mid range)/UWA campsite (Budget)

Day 8, Full day Nature walks in Semliki National Park                               
After a morning breakfast at your hotel, you will leave for a guided nature walk in the vast extension of the Ituri forest where you will be rewarded with sights of early risers like primates, birds, and different animal species from the far. You will trail through the two main springs set in a lush swampy clearing close to the south eastern corner of the forest. Expect to spot different bird species like the yellow throated tinker bird, horn-bills, red-rumped and Frasier’s ant-thrush, blue-breasted King fisher and honey guide greenbul. Also look out for different primate species in the forest like the red-tailed monkey, grey checked Mangabey and Black and white colobus monkeys.  Have a picnic lunch in the Park and later visit the Mungilo water fall which may reward you with excellent views of the hornbill species. Also visit the Eastern boundary of the Semliki River which may also expose you to a variety of water birds, monkey’s hippos and crocodiles. Dinner and overnight stay at Semliki Safari Lodge (Luxury)/Hotel Vanilla (mid range)/UWA campsite (Budget)

Day 9, Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park
After a morning breakfast, you will drive to Fort portal for lunch. You will also be rewarded with the spectacular view of the magnificent scenery of the Rwenzori Mountains and the local home stead as you proceed to Kibale Forest National Park. Upon arrival at the Park you will take a guided nature walk to explore around the Bunyaruguru crater region. Dinner overnight at Primates lodge (Luxury)/ Chimp’s nest (Midrange)/Chimpanzee Guest house (Budget).

Day 10, Chimp tracking and Bigodi Swamp walk
Upon having breakfast in the morning at your lodge, you will go for the life time Chimpanzee tracking experience in their natural environment and habitat. You will first report to the Park Headquarters at Kanyachu for a briefing about the chimp trackers code of conduct by a UWA official and then later go for the morning chimpanzee tracking experience. You will penetrate into the forest under the guidance of an armed ranger for the tracking.  Besides the chimps, you may spot other primates and these include: Varvet Monkey, L’hoest, Blue Monkey, Red-Tailed Monkey, Grey Cheeked Mangabey, Black And White Colobus Monkey and many more. Return back to the lodge for Lunch and later go for the afternoon Bigodi swamp walk to search for different bird species. Dinner and overnight at Primates lodge (Luxury)/ Chimp’s nest (Midrange)/Chimpanzee Guest house (Budget).

Day 11, Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
After breakfast, you will leave Kibale Forest National Park and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park which is the most popular protected area with a stunning location on the rift valley floor between Lakes Edward and George. En route to the Park you will enjoy a game drive that will expose you to different wildlife species such as Elephants, Buffalos, Uganda Kob and if you are lucky, you may also spot the Hyena, Lions, Leopard and perhaps the Giant Forest Hog. Dinner and overnight stay at Mweya safari lodge or Jacana Safari Lodge (Luxury)/Hippo Hills camp or Queen Elizabeth Bush Lodge (mid range)/ Simba safari lodge (Budget)

Day 12, Game drive and afternoon Launch cruise
After your breakfast, you will go for the morning game drive in Kasenyi area to search for different wildlife animals missed out in the previous game drive. Later visit the Katwe explosion craters. Here you will spot Kitagata Lake and the enormous Kamengo Crater and this will give you clear view of different wildlife around the Park. In the afternoon, go for the launch cruise along the Kazinga Channel where you will be rewarded with wildlife sights of species like the Hippopotamuses, Waterbucks, Crocodiles and a variety of Water Birds like the black bee- eater, several species of falcons and the raptors. Dinner and overnight stay at Mweya safari lodge or Jacana Safari Lodge (Luxury)/Hippo Hills camp or Queen Elizabeth Bush Lodge (mid range)/ Simba safari lodge (Budget)

Day 13, Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
After breakfast, you will transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park via the Ishasha sector commonly known for the rare tree climbing lions. These are basically found in the tall fig trees and acacia trees. Have lunch at Ishasha as you spot the hippos in the Ishasha River. You may also spot buffaloes, leopards, Kob and topis on the plains of the area. Proceed to Bwindi for refreshments, dinner and overnight stay at Gorilla Resort or Mahogany Springs or Gorilla Forest Camp (Luxury)/Lake Kitandara or Buhoma Lodge (Midrange)/Buhoma Community Bandas or wagtail eco safari camp (Budget)

Day 14, Gorilla tracking
After breakfast, you will report to the park headquarters where you will be briefed about the mountain gorilla trackers code of conduct. Later you will penetrate through the impenetrable forest for a more adventurous and exciting lifetime experience of Mountain Gorilla tracking.  You are all reminded to go with your packed lunch and bottled water since the tracking duration depends on the ease to see the gorilla that day and where they slept the previous night. Besides the Gorillas, you will also spot other forest wildlife like the Black and White Colobus Monkeys, Red Tailed Colobus, Blue Monkey, L’hoests and baboons and many more. Retire for dinner and overnight stay at Gorilla Resort or Mahogany Springs or Gorilla Forest Camp (Luxury)/Lake Kitandara or Buhoma Lodge (Midrange)/Buhoma Community Bandas or wagtail eco safari camp (Budget)

Day 15, Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi
After your breakfast, you will transfer to Lake Bunyonyi via the commonly known area as the Switzerland of Africa Kabale. The journey will offer you with sights of the beautiful terrain of the rolling hills with terraced landscape. Upon arrival at Bunyonyi, have lunch and later carry out an afternoon boat ride on the lake which will reward you with sights of different birds on the many small islands on the lake.  Dinner and overnight in Arcadia Cottages for Luxury or Bunyonyi Overland Resort for mid range or Bunyonyi overland Camp for budget

Day 16, Transfer to Lake Mburo
You will leave Bunyonyi after breakfast and transfer to Lake Mburo National Park with lunch en route in Mbarara town. Upon reaching lake Mburo, you will go for the afternoon boat trip along Lake Mburo that will expose you to the park’s wildlife such as the hippos and a variety of water birds that may include the African Fin foot, Pelicans, Black crake, Heron, cormorant, fish eagle if lucky you will spot the rare shoebill stork . Dinner and overnight at Mihingo Lodge or Mantana Luxury Tented Camp (Luxury)/ Rwonyo Camp (Budget)/ Arcadia cottages (Mid range)

Day 17, Game drive and transfer to Kampala
After breakfast, you will go for the morning game drive to search for the early risers. Drive through the humid acacia forest and expect to see animals like the Giant eland, Impala and Burchell’s zebra, Buffalo, Oribis, Waterbucks, Reedbuck and the Rare Sitatunga. Thereafter depart for Kampala with an en route lunch stopover at the Equator. Proceed to Kampala for dinner, refreshments and overnight stay at Serena Hotel or Sheraton Hotel (Luxury)/ Cassia Lodge (Midrange)/Excellent Hotel or Ministers Village Hotel or Hotel Sojovaro (Budget)

Day 18, Kampala City tour
This day you will be picked up from your Hotel in Kampala and then go for a city tour around Kampala. You will visit cultural sites like the King’s Palace, Kasubi tombs, religious sites like the Namugongo Martyrs’ shrine, Bahai Temple which is the only one of its kind in Africa and it’s used for meditation, Namugongo and Rubaga Cathedrals. Other places to visit include: Uganda Museum known to be the oldest in East Africa, the man made Kabaka’s lake and Makerere University which is the oldest institution in Africa. Day 19, Departure
After breakfast, depending on the time of your departure flight, you will go for final craft shopping and later be transferred to the Airport to catch your flight back home
